Have you always wanted to learn how to quilt but weren’t sure where to start? Our Sampler Quilting Class is the perfect place to begin. Designed especially for beginners, this welcoming, step-by-step class moves at a relaxed pace so you can build skills, confidence, and joy with every stitch.

Over six inspiring sessions, you’ll create nine beautiful sampler blocks while learning the foundational techniques that appear again and again in quilting. By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished sampler quilt (54.5” x 54.5”)—and the confidence to tackle future quilting projects with ease.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout this class, you’ll gain hands-on experience with essential quilting skills, including:

  • Cutting fabric accurately using quilting rulers
  • Mastering the all-important ¼” seam allowance
  • Creating classic quilt units and blocks:
    • Four Patches
    • Flying Geese
    • Half Square Triangles
    • Cat’s Cradle
    • Square in a Square
    • Flip Corners
    • Hour Glass
    • Strip Sets
  • Sewing blocks together into a finished quilt top
  • Adding sashing and borders
  • Making backing and binding
  • Understanding quilting and finishing options

Each block is thoughtfully chosen to build your skills gradually and confidently.

  • Instructor: Karen is a passionate quilter who began her quilting journey in 2002 and quickly fell in love with the art of piecing, design, and creativity that quilting brings. She is an active member of the Central Arkansas Quilters Guild, Conway Quilters, and the River Valley Quilters Guild, where she continues to grow her skills and share her love of quilting with others. Whether teaching or learning, she brings enthusiasm and encouragement to every stitch.

Fabric Requirements

  • 10–12 Fat Quarters
  • 5 Background Fat Quarters
  • 1 yard sashing fabric
  • 1.25 yards border & binding fabric
  • 3⅜ yards backing or 2 yards of 108” wide backing

Sewing Supplies

  • Sewing machine (with manual)
  • Cutting mat & rotary cutter
  • Iron
  • Small scissors & seam ripper
  • Purple Thang or stiletto
  • Thin pins
  • Starch (Magic or Best Press recommended)
  • Thread
  • Quilting rulers: 6.5” x 24” and 6.5” x 6.5”
  • Design board (optional but helpful)

Please Come Prepared With

  • Starched fat quarters
  • Sewing supplies listed above
  • Completed color sheet for blocks (helpful but not required)
