Suzi Smith

Suzi Smith is a Virginia-based hand piecer and traditional quilter whose love of quilts feels rooted in family history. She discovered years later that her great-grandmother and namesake was an accomplished quilter, a connection that made the craft even more meaningful to her.

Suzi began quilting after taking a beginner class with her sister-in-law and was instantly hooked. She spent ten years running the quilting program at Belle Grove Plantation in Virginia and later helped spark the idea that became the Virginia Quilt Museum, including assisting with the first quilts in its permanent collection. Though she no longer works in the industry, her passion for quilts and quiltmaking remains strong.
