Does your high schooler want to learn to sew? This is a great summer project for a younger sewist who wants to make something useful for school, travel, or college.
In this class, Vida will guide students through basic sewing and bag-making skills while making the Carry A Smile bag by Zen Chic. This is a beginner-friendly project designed to help students learn how to follow a pattern, work with fabric, and build confidence at the machine.

- 12 x 24 quilting ruler
- Self-healing cutting mat
- Fabric marking pen or pencil
A limited number of sewing machines are available for student use. Register early to reserve one.
Pattern and Materials
- Carry A Smile pattern by Zen Chic, available in the shop
- 1 1/4 yards main canvas or medium-weight linen suitable for bag making
- 1 1/4 yards lining canvas or medium-weight linen suitable for bag making
- 1/4 yard bag strapping
- 8 x 31 lightweight fusible web
- 50 wt thread to match fabrics
Fabrics pictured on the pattern are available in the shop

- Personal iron
- Wool ironing mat
Additional Information
Participants must be 15 years old or older.
